Thinxtra and pollin8 provide IoT tracking for architectural glass products

Pollin8, an IoT SaaS Kiwi company, and Thinxtra a Telco IoT Australian, have deployed a solution for asset tracking to New Zealand’s Architectural Glass Products.

As part of AGP’s solution, Pollin8 provided IoT trackers for AGP’s 1,750 delivery trolleys. Each cart was valued at $3,500. The company can reduce its carbon footprint by increasing efficiency in returning the carts and preventing them from being misplaced. The devices use Thinxtra’s 0G Network.

Even when GPS signals fail, the IoT sensors permanently attach to each trolley. They continuously collect location information. The data is transmitted across Thinxtra’s low-power wide area network (LP WAN), and delivered in real-time to AGP via mobile and web applications.

A highly automated factory is located in Hautapu in Waikato, on Te Ika-a-Mui on the North Island. This facility has an order-to-delivery time of four days.

Pollin8’s and Thinxtra’s joint IoT solutions were in place at the beginning, which was crucial to our ability deliver this level service. We don’t have to spend time counting assets with a GPS system. Instead, we can use a dashboard that tells us who has the trolleys, and for how long. This allows us to take quick action to maintain high service levels.

AGP chose the combined IoT Solution because it was cost-effective, low-maintenance and easy to install. The 0G Network also allowed AGP to connect sensors without having to invest in communications infrastructure.
