Cognizant acquires IoT expert Mobica from Manchester

This acquisition will improve Cognizant’s embedded software engineering capability and increase its presence in Eastern Europe.

Cognizant is a global leader of IT services and consultancy. It has acquired Mobica, an internet of things software engineering company based in Manchester. Cognizant can now offer clients a broader spectrum of support for their digital transformation.

Mobica’s services cover the entire lifecycle of software development. They are geared towards clients’ research and development efforts as well as their core skills for embedded software development and testing.

Cognizant says that in order to increase its role as a strategic business partner, it has expertise in three key areas: connected devices, digital transformation and silicon and technology platforms.

Cognizant would be able to expand its footprint in Eastern Europe following the acquisition of Devbridge, a Lithuanian company, in 2021, and Softvision, a Romanian company, in 2018.

Annadurai Elango is executive vice president, core technologies and insights, at Cognizant. She says that Mobica’s track record in delivering embedded software engineering services aligns well with Cognizant’s global 2,000 clients and key industries. Its large presence in Poland also enhances the growing development teams of Eastern Europe.
